Firestorms of Venus
Sympathy comes in a kettle
You pour the tea and gently smile
And I, I’m so content here
Calm, if for a while
And I want to shatter the hourglass
How else can I make this last?
Mission control sent me a message
“Planet approaching, prepare to land.”
And I put on my helmet, slipped my gloves on
And reached for the latch
I opened the door
“What do you see? Awaiting report.”
I said, “It’s beautiful!”
There is a storm burning
Under the surface of your smile
And this torturous yearning
Is the only proof I am alive
I’m alive
I’m alive
I’m out of control
Everything’s aching
I drop to my knees and begin to pray
My skin is on fire. My heart is breaking
And all that I was is burning away
And all I want, is to shatter the hourglass
To’ve met you, I’d do it again
There is a storm burning
Under the surface of your smile
And this torturous yearning
Is the only proof I was alive
I was alive
I was alive
