Aurelio Voltaire
It Was Music All Along
The darkness was shattered
By a soft, sweet, melody
A dead branch lowered
As I watch the gloom retreat
And I didn't see it then, my friend
But it happened again
In the dark of this forest
Where we all try to cope
The soft sounds of singing
Gave the hopeless hope
And it filled my ears
Opened my eyes
And now I realize
It was a song, just a song
That made our hearts grow strong
When things were black
What pushed it back?
It was music all along
To carry on, carry on
Lose yourself in a song
And when things get grim
All you need's a hymn
A shanty or a song
To carry on
Well the birds, they sing
And the bells, they chime
And there's the whistling wind
And if you learn their songs
And you sing along
You'll be happy, Just like them
Well the insects keep the beat all night
And the wolves, they make their sounds
And if you do like those
And you tap your toes
There'll be music all around
So sing a song, any song
To make our hearts grow strong
When things were black
What pushed it back?
It was music all along
To carry on, carry on
Lose yourself in a song
And when things get grim
All you need's a hymn
A shanty or a song
To carry on
To carry on
All you need's a song
To carry on
