Over the miles and the road
Out from the dark, you must go
Go find the man who forgot
The girl who's left lying in the dark
Holly lived in darkness down beneath the city, underground
Her mother was one of many moles, turned away from the sunlit world
No other children lived below, and Holly grew up quite alone
She wondered where her father was, and hoped and hoped one day he'd come
One day, she found a burlap sack, drеssed it up, and brought it back
She took it evеrywhere she went, and it became her only friend
Burlap Molly was its name, and just like her sister it became
With lips made from Holly's blood, when she would sleep, the doll'd wake up
Over the miles and the road
Out from the dark, you must go
Go find the man who forgot
The girl who's left lying in the dark
The doll would wander underground, until it found the way on out
But Holly was afraid to go; the underdark was all she knew
One awake, and one asleep, through notes they'd plan the doll's journey
To find the girl's forgotten dad. To rescue her, the doll would bring him back
So Burlap Molly walks the world to find a man whose little girl
Lives in darkness, doesn't know his name, his face, or where he'd go
Burlap Molly only wakes when Holly sleeps, and day after day
To find the father is her endless quest, so he can carry his child out of darkness
Over the miles and the road
Out from the dark, you must go
Go find the man who forgot
The girl who's left lying in the dark
