Ocean’s Too Cold
There's a lonely girl at the promenade
She's alone without anyone
When her daddy comes to visit her
He wants to lay out under the sun
But the sky is gray as usual
Another misty day
And the ocean's too cold to swim in
The ocean's too cold to swim in
And it's cold
And her daddy asks if she's making friends
And she says she's trying hard
Taking classes, going to parties
And meeting people at bars
And he thinks that it's unusual how she hasn't settled down
Why would anyone live here?
Why would anyone live here
When the ocean's that cold?
And she drives him back to LAX and kisses him goodbye
And he sits down with a magazine and a McDonald's apple pie
And he wants to think that she's alright
And all her dreams will come true
But the odds are just not good enough
No, the odds are just not good enough for her
Mmm
