The Isley Brothers
Choosey Lover (Live)
[Chorus: Ronald Isley]
Choosey lover
Girl, I'm so proud of you
I'm so glad you chose me, baby, baby
And I'll make you so happy
[Verse 1: Ronald Isley]
Thought I had a lover, thought I had a lover
But I was kiddin' myself, baby
By the time I learned about it
By the time I learned the truth about it
She was sleepin' with someone else, oh, but not you, baby
[Chorus: Ronald Isley]
Choosey lover
Girl, I'm so proud of you
I'm so glad you chose me, baby, baby
And I'll make you so happy
[Verse 2: Ronald Isley]
'Cause you've given me, given me security
Given me security, baby and you're provin' what you said, yeah
I never worry about you, never worry about you, baby
Jumpin' in and out of bed, no, not my baby
[Chorus: Ronald Isley]
Choosey lover
Girl, I'm so proud of you
I'm so glad you chose me, baby, baby
And I'll make you so happy
[Outro dialogue]
Steve Harvey: So we was laughing during these records 'cause Ron, how did you come up with that song?
Ronald Isley: I was trying to -- I heard the record "True Devotion," and I was so in love with that song, I said, "I want a song like that." So that's when I wrote "Choosey Lover." And I was afraid that I was gonna get sued because it was so close, so close. That was before I knew Philip like I know him now and Verdine like I know him now. My brother used to call Verdine on the phone all the time
Verdine White: Right. And Marvin told me about the song, right, right. Love him
Steve: But y'all didn't care
Verdine: True compliment
Steve: True compliment?
Verdine: Absolutely, especially from them, from The Isley Brothers, are you kidding? Right. You know, if they love your stuff, you must be doing something good because we love their stuff, you know?
Steve: One more, D-Nice
